Just thought I would put these up! This is Erik being covered in molasses and then feathers on his blackening. It is a crazy Orkney tradition that they do to people before they get married, they have started doing it to brides recently as well.
This is the boys after they've blackened Erik and they are now going to drive around the main streets of Kirkwall on the back of a truck drinking beer and banging the truck with sticks and blowing horns. Basically making as much noise as possible and drink as much beer as possible at the same time!! That's the tradition!!
